The Advent Calendar is one of the signs that reminds us that there are not many days left before Christmas.
This is the symbol of Advent period. It brings us childhood memories of those days when we looked forward to opening each day’s section. Accessing that window meant receiving a chocolate piece or small gift and waiting for Christmas to arrive a magical moment.
But what is the origin of the first Advent Calendars?
The first Advent Calendar known is from 1851 and was hand painted. In 1908, the first printed version appeared, made by Gerhard Lang. It contained 24 prints with religious drawn characters. With the pass of time the calendars were filled with all kinds of gifts. Nowadays the versions prepared for children usually include candies or chocolate.
